My wonderful family - Susan, Theodore and Isabella - together with my long-time friend Roger founded Astarte Organic in order to promote the key ingredient of the Mediterranean diet, Olive Oil, to the American public. We wanted to bring to the US the most authentic, flavorful, organic, extra virgin olive oil one can find from our native lands in Crete. Olive oil is an inherited treasure of our Cretan culture, where only the best of olive trees have grown for thousands of years since the Minoan Civilization.
Astarte Organic is a unique, health-benefiting product, originating from a limited number of olives on a special terroir with a fully organic harvesting process.
Our goal is to benefit American society in a very tasty and - most importantly - healthy way. Enjoy!
Astarte was an ancient time Phoenician goddess who symbolized fertility, sexuality and love. She was the daughter of Epigeius (Ouranos) and Gea (Earth). Eventually, her cult spread westward and ancient Greeks adopted her as part of their pantheon, where she became known as Aphrodite. Some scholars believe that she was a pre-cursor of the Holy Mary, as she was referred to as the “Heavenly Virgin”.

Our family roots are in Greece and in Lebanon, and likewise, we would like to share our devotion to olive oil by bringing it westward. Hopefully, your house will adopt Astarte as part of its pantry.

Time has passed, Astarte gave room to Mary, and Phoenicia became Lebanon. When a civil war erupted there, my family emigrated to France, spurring a duel of cultures within me.
During my odyssey in search for serenity, I realized that I never felt more at home than in Greece. I concluded that I, like the olive tree, am from the Mediterranean basin. My solution was to turn the sea into a geographical bridge made up with olive branches.

My good old friend Stelios and I looked at the olive oil market, and realized how much Americans could benefit from getting access to this product that I came to love. I hope that when you taste our olive oil, you too will feel that subtle savor of peace that this timeless tree has helped me reach.
